When I was younger, the one skincare product that I used religiously (other than cleansing foam) was Oxy-5.
It is a fantastic product that really dries your zits down so that they’re gone by the next day, but it started getting a little too drying for my sensitive skin, so I stopped using it and turned to other alternatives, like acne patches.
However, I’ve never forgotten how effective Oxy products are. That was why I got pretty excited when I saw this moisturiser from Oxy that claimed to help control acne.

Ingredient List
Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butylene Glycol, Water/Butylene Glycol/PEG-60 Almond Glycerides/Caprylyl Glycol/Glycerin/Carbomer/Nordihydrogualaretic Acid/Oleanolic Acid, Silica, Cyclopentasiloxane, Polysorbate 60, Bis-EThylhexyloxyphenol, Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Methylparaben, Triethanolamine, Allantoin, Water/Butylene Glycol/Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Water/Propylene Glycol/Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Flavor (Flavor-Green Leaf), Sodium Hyaluronate
Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate is used to protect your skin from UV rays (hence SPF 15).
However, I am a little concerned that it contains a rather high concentration of Butylene Glycol. This is actually a human irritant and can be bad for people with extremely sensitive skin.

Packaging
The packaging is very hygienic and convenient. You can pump out a suitable amount of product without making a mess that is common with other types of packaging that needs you to squeeze or scoop out the product.
Texture
It feels like a cross between gel and cream, so it’s not too oily nor too watery. It is easily spread out on skin (see last photo), and absorbed quickly as well with no white residue. You can definitely use this in your morning routine before applying makeup.
Effectiveness
I have pretty mixed feelings about this product’s efficacy.
I do think that with regards to hydration and moisturising, it works pretty well because my skin doesn’t show any signs of dryness or dehydration after I apply this, even if I am in a dry, air-conditioned place for hours.
On the other hand, I don’t think it has helped with fighting pimples and controlling oil. In fact, I saw an increase in pimples occasionally when I am using this, so I’m really not convinced that it works…
Final Verdict
I am quite disappointed that the Oxy Acne Control Moisturizer has not worked well for me at all. I did expect that it would heal my pimples and stop new ones from growing out, but the opposite has happened (more than once).
Maybe my expectations of this were too high, but I do say that this is good for people who are looking to find a lightweight moisturiser and have no particular acne/pimple/sensitive skin issues. If you are looking to buy this in order to clear your pimples, you may end up pretty disappointed.
