The Etude Dear Darling Water Gel Tint isn’t a new product, but it sure is one that has been raved about by many bloggers and fans.
I eventually couldn’t resist finding out for myself whether the hype over this project is justified, so I bought this in Korea and tried it back home in Singapore.

The moisture tint expresses sweet color like ice cream as it refreshingly melts into the lips.

Review
Packaging
I’ve hardly seen an Etude product that doesn’t deliver in terms of packaging. This one is adorably shaped like a popsicle, which I guess does a good job in delivering the idea of lips stained by the sweet syrup from popsicles. It’s relatively small, so it is also easy to carry around.
Colour
While the shade range is not the largest we have seen from lip tints, I think it is sufficient enough to cover most preferences, with pinks, reds, and oranges/apricots. The colour I picked, RD307, looks very red from the bottle alone, but in reality is a lighter shade of red that closely resembles watermelon juice.
Staying power
Do you want to know how insane this staying power is? After I swatched the product to take the photographs above, I found out that the pinkish stain is still visible the next day – now, how amazing is that?!
I’ve found that this lip tint is so long-lasting that you really don’t need to touch up at all even after oily meals. In fact, you could probably even last a whole day with just a few swipes in the morning before heading out – super convenient!
In addition, I really like that this lip tint actually helps your lips feel moisturised, instead of sucking the moisture away from the lips (this could happen to you too, so remember to always put lip balm!) and making it more dry than before.
Final Verdict
After just my first use, I now understood why this Etude lip tint is such a major hit around the world. It is very rare to find a lip tint that not only does not dry your lips, but faithfully keeps the colour intact even when you are eating the oiliest food in the whole world.
I also think this makes for a very good ‘starter product’, for people who are just starting out on makeup. It’s easy to apply, lasts long, and generally completes your look effortlessly.
Naturally, I hope to be able to get the other beautiful shades as well in the future – wish me & my wallet luck!
