I don’t know how many of my readers are Urban Decay fans. However, I’ll just put it out there that personally, I don’t think the brand hasn’t launched anything super buzz-worthy in a long, long time.
I did think their famous makeup setting spray is pretty good, but that’s about it.
There was quite a fair bit of buzz over this Lo-Fi Lip Mousse Lipstick back when it was released in Singapore, and I was lucky enough to get one shade of it to try it out. My review isn’t going to be too pretty though – you’ve been warned!

Review
Packaging
I had to admit it but I thought the packaging of this Lip Mousse was pretty cute – the doe foot applicator ‘pops’ out when you flip open the lid, making for a pretty Instagrammable moment.
Aside from being IG-worthy, the packaging also wins props for being very travel-friendly, with a size that fits just right into your makeup pouch and a mirror to boot if you need to apply it on the go.
Colour
The shade I have is Amplify, which Urban Decay describes as a ‘truly intense red with autumnal vibes that flatters virtually every skin tone’.
Temptalia begs to differ, calling this as a ‘cool-toned, medium red with a matte finish’, which is really a much more accurate description.
I don’t think this goes very well with my warmer skin undertone, to be honest. I do think it is a very pretty colour that will brighten your skin tone, but let’s not kid ourselves – no one with uber warm olive skin will probably be able to pull this off as well as someone with fairer skin.
Although the colour doesn’t look very good on my lips, I do think the colour payoff and blendability are pretty good, so I actually use this a cream blusher from time to time.
Staying power
The staying power of Urban Decay’s Lo-Fi Lip Mousse Lipstick is pretty good, but as with all long-lasting lip mousses you know it comes with a hefty price tag: darn dry lips.
No matter how much lip balm I put, my lips can never get used to that incredibly dried out sensation. I don’t want to show you a photo of how dry my lips are, but I found a photo of someone’s swatches to illustrate my point:

I don’t know if she put lip balm on before but let me tell you that it’s not an exaggeration – this lip mousse will dry your lips out and turn them into prunes!!
Final Verdict
I think UD wanted to make this lip mousse pretty revolutionary but unfortunately the formula is still, umm, pretty lacking.
In addition, velvety lip mousses are not even that new in the beauty scene anymore. I’ve seen multiple K-beauty brands come up with similar products, and many of them retail for much cheaper without drying my lips out that excessively.
Sorry UD, I’ll pass on this one!
