Saborino Morning Face Mask review

Although I’m a huge fan of sheet masks, especially Korean sheet masks, for some reason I’ve never found much success with Japanese sheet masks. I once tried the widely raved-about Lululun ones and was so disappointed because they made me break out.

Hence, I was a little apprehensive about trying out the Saborino Morning Face Mask, which is also touted to be a top pick voted by the Japanese.

Product Description

This special care face mask gives you 3 in 1 performance from cleansing, skincare, and primer(base).
It contains 10 different moisturising ingredients, including hyaluronic acid (HA), honey, apple acid, collagen, orange oil, grapefruit fruit peel oil, and other fruity essences.

Ingredient List

Looking back, I probably should have taken note of the red flags in the ingredient list before I purchased this: alcohol ranks very high in this list, and you’ll also find a few different fragrances (not just one!), preservatives and acids – not great.

Review

Packaging

I know it’s pretty convenient to just grab a sheet out like tissue but… sorry, I find it really very unhygienic. It doesn’t even come with a tweezer to help you pick up each individual sheet, and I don’t feel like it’s the best idea to keep touching each sheet like that and then closing the lid back, so it’s a no from me on this.

Mask Fit

As you can see from the photo above, this sheet mask barely fits on my face. I know it’s a quick mask that you can use for just 1 minute but… really?

It doesn’t even fit my whole face btw, like just 4/5 of it? And then it’s near impossible to even smoothen it out so that my skin can absorb all the serum properly – a far cry from Mediheal’s masks, which fit much, much better on my face.

I don’t know if it’s my fault that my face is too big for the mask because Japanese women have smaller faces but let’s just say I’m not letting it pass with flying colours on this one.

Effectiveness

I would have forgiven its meh packaging and meh sheet size if it worked like magic, as the beauty junkies claim, but alas, I was pretty much let down on this as well.

You’ll start to feel this slight tingling on your skin over time, and by the 1-minute mark I sometimes feel like my skin has started to burn, which is clearly not a good sign. The first few times I used this, I broke out again and gave up on the masks.

Recently, I started using the Saborino Morning Mask again and still get the same tingling/burning sensation. While I didn’t break out in the same way, I do notice my rosacea getting a little worse, so it’s still a no from me.

Final Verdict

When everyone loves a skincare product and my skin just absolutely hates it, it feels awful – like you’re being left out of a party that everyone else is invited to.

My sensitive, acne-prone skin simply doesn’t love the irritants in this sheet mask, and I’m sorry to say that if you also have the same issues (particularly sensitive skin), you’ll not love this supposed holy grail either.

  1. […] I’m no fan of this kind of packaging that you keep opening and closing. It’s similar to Saborino’s, where the other sheets are simply exposed to the air! Just imagine keeping this box around for […]
