Packaging
I think it’s quite kawaii, very typical Japanese drugstore product packaging. The important thing is that it’s 100% secure and leakproof, so you don’t need to worry about getting eyeliner all over your precious bag.
Colour
Black eyeliner doesn’t work for me at all, so I always buy varying shades of brown.
#02 Bitter Brown is a very light brown that you’ll love if you want to create a subtle look, very suitable if you don’t want to draw too much attention to your unintentionally intense cat eye.
#03 is a very dark brown that looks almost like black, and is my personal favourite! It makes your eyes look larger without looking too fierce nor docile – the kind of in-between that works on anyone, for any occasion.
While I haven’t tried the black eyeliner, I suggest going for the browns first before you delve into black, especially if you’re a beginner. Mistakes made with black eyeliner are especially unforgiving, and from my experience, it is likely that you can’t quite get used to the fact that you now have a dark line draw around your eyes on the first couple of tries. Just saying.
Staying power
I’m very unforgiving when it comes to staying power, especially for any eyeliner that claims to be long-lasting. The claims are only valid if my eyeliner stays put for more than nine hours, with no smudging, no budging, no artificial dark eye circles when it rains.
On a daily basis (i.e. travelling on public transport, working in air-conditioned offices), this eyeliner is definitely good. What truly impressed me, however, was when I went to hot yoga, sweated buckets, and had my Heroine Make eyeliner looking just as fresh as when I drew it in the morning.
Incredulous, right?!
From then on I’ve always used the Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner Superkeep every time I know I’m going to have a sweaty and oily face, e.g. when I’m out for long hours, exercising, eating in hot places. The eyeliner never fails me – every. single. time.
Final Verdict
I don’t often writing glowing product reviews. However, Heroine Make’s eyeliner is simply worth all the gushing over and all that hype it’s been getting. I even stopped using my CLIO for a few months because the only thing I wanted to use was Heroine Make. That’s how good it is.
I can say pretty confidently that this is one of the best liquid eyeliners out there in the market. For its price, this is seriously SUPER worth it. One pen can last me for 3-6 months – considering that I use it almost everyday and it costs me less than SGD 20, I really have nothing to complain about.
Trust me – this is one liquid eyeliner that you must try at least once. And I can guarantee that you probably won’t just stop at once.
