I’ve played around with different moisturisers for years and barely found any that worked for me, with the exception of belif’s Water Bomb which really is the bomb.
When it comes to Clinique’s Dramatically Different moisturisers, I’ve heard a mixed bag of reviews. Some claim that the results are as dramatic as the name implies. Others are much less impressed.
In order to find out once and for all, I decided to buy a travel size of this moisturiser and see if it works wonders.

Packaging
The original packaging is a very minimalistic, clear bottle that looks super aesthetic, whereas the travel version I got is a little less IG-worthy. However, it still retains the clear packaging that allows you to see its gel texture.
It’s easy to use and easy to carry around, but sadly I find that the lid doesn’t close very well for some reason, which resulted in spillage in my luggage – not cool.
Texture
Clinique’s Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly is a lightweight gel that feels slightly viscous, but is pretty easily absorbed by skin.
My gripe is that it leaves a bit of a sticky sensation on the skin, which isn’t the best feeling. You’ll need to a wait for a short while for the moisturiser to be absorbed. Do factor that in if you’re planning to go over with makeup afterwards.
Effectiveness
I tested this in two environments: Korea’s cold and dry winter, as well as Singapore’s hot and humid forever-summer.
I found that this moisturiser worked very well in the former, where my skin was prone to feeling taut, oily, and generally being a dry & dying mess. My foundation used to crack around the dry spots on my face, but using this moisturiser has really helped to prevent that from happening.
In Singapore, however, it was a very different situation: I found it to be a little too thick at times, especially with the sticky sensation, and would occasionally break out. I was quite surprised because I thought that the texture would be light enough. Strangely, it wasn’t the case for me.
Final Verdict
Although it is advertised for all skin types, I personally find that Clinique’s Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly still works best for those with drier skin, or for those who are living in drier climates.
I don’t think the ingredients in this moisturiser are causing my skin to break out since it worked well for me in winter, just that the texture is still a little too thicker for my skin to handle.
However, if you have pretty dry skin or need something to tide your skin over during the cold and dry months, this may work very well for you.
