Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant review

I rarely ever review cleansers. The main reason is that I don’t really change the cleansing I use as often as you would think.

Unlike other products in my skincare routine, I prefer sticking to just a few good cleansers that are tried and tested.

I think this is the first Bioderma product that I tried. I had pretty high hopes for this cleanser because I’ve heard many good things about this brand. See if they met my expectations!

Gently cleanses and removes make-up from face and eyes

Moisturises

Soothes and calms irritations

Ingredient List

Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Propanediol, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Citric Acid, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Citrate, Peg-90 Glyceryl Isostearate, Mannitol, Xylitol, Laureth-2, Rhamnose, Fructooligosaccharides, Tocopherol, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, Lecithin, Ascorbyl Palmitat

You can take a look at the individual ratings of each ingredient here. Generally the list looks sensible, although there are a few potential fungal acne triggers.

Citric acid has also been flagged as bad for sensitive skin. This is quite surprising considering that Bioderma’s products claim to be fantastic for sensitive skin.

Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant review

Packaging

I actually think this pink is really pretty, and quite a smart move to help consumers easily associate this with the popular Sensibio micellar water.

The pump works fine, so it’s easy to pump out a good amount of product. I don’t have much complaints about the (clearly) plastic packaging. It’s a drugstore brand, so I’m not expecting high-quality glass or anything.

Texture

I found the texture of this cleanser pretty interesting: when you pump it out, it’s clearly gel, but it actually foams very well when in contact with water.

If you belong to the gang who believe that foam is best when it comes to cleansing, you can rest assured that you’ll be seeing some foam with this.

Effectiveness

This cleanser has a lot of claims to live up to, which I was initially pretty skeptical about.

To be honest, I was not very impressed the first few times I used this Sensibio Gel Moussant. Although it did live up to its claim of being a gentle cleanser, I didn’t see a significant improvement.

However, I continued using it daily for about a month, and I did see an overall improvement in my skin as compared to my previous cleanser. Sometimes I’ll see that my skin looks a little red right after cleansing and my acne becomes glaringly obvious, which is a sign that my cleanser is too harsh. These days, my skin doesn’t have those red patches anymore after cleansing.

I also no longer struggle with the pain of having my cleanser get into my eyes. This gel cleanser is so gentle that it doesn’t irritate your eyes at all!

Final Verdict

I find it very difficult to be wowed by a cleanser.

The last one that really blew me away was probably Neogen, and then after that I don’t think I’ve tried any cleanser that I had to write a review about.

In my opinion, Bioderma’s Sensibio Gel Moussant is a little pricey, especially considering that it’s meant to be a drugstore brand.

However, I am convinced that this is a very good cleanser for sensitive skin – something which is very difficult to come by. If you struggle to find one that doesn’t break you out or are just not impressed by exorbitantly-priced cleansers, do check this one out!
