I was extremely enamoured with LILYBYRED’s Bloody Liar Coating Tint for the longest periiod of time. Hence, it was no surprise that I also went on to buy the LILYBYRED Mood Liar Velvet Tint.
Just curious though – why all the references to Liars for their lip product names? Anyone knows why?

Review
Packaging
The LILYBYRED Mood Liar Velvet Tint actually looks exactly like the Bloody Liar Coating Tint!! I mean I’m all for branding consistency, but it’s really misleading.
I sometimes mix up the Mood Liar Velvet Tint and my Bloody Liar Coating Tints because I can’t tell the packaging apart until I read the text. It’s definitely very inconvenient!
Colour
The shade I have is #3 Apricot. It looks warmer in my photo because of the lighting. But in reality, it is closer a light peach mousse.
This is a very pretty colour that works for most occasions and with most makeup styles, especially if you’re going for a more muted/daily look than full glam makeup. It looks pretty much the same when you apply it on your lips – it’s a little thick so your original lip colour doesn’t really show up.
I think this suits all skin undertones, but unfortunately it looks better on fairer skin tones – tends to wash you out a little if you’re more tanned.
Colour payoff & intensity
The colour payoff is not very strong. Even if you keep swiping on more than 4 layers, there isn’t much difference to the colour.
I think it’s mostly got to do with the fact that mine is a lighter shade, because it seems that the difference is more obvious with the darker shades.
Staying power
I’ve realised that although most velvet lip tints have pretty good staying power, frankly not all of them are made equal.
This one from LILYBYRED is seriously superior – in fact, I would say this is even more impressive than peripera’s Ink the Airy Velvet. Even if you’re munching on fried chicken, you’ll still have a good and even hint of colour left on your lips!
Final Verdict
These days, I don’t use as many velvet lip tints as I do with the liquid ones, but I make an exception for LILYBYRED Mood Liar Velvet Tint.
Available at a very reasonable price, I would even say that this drugstore lip tint beats many higher-end ones. If you’re planning to buy a velvet lip tint, my suggestion is to give this a go before you spend a bomb on that luxury brand lip tint. You’ll thank me for the cost savings!
