I went to Korea with a shopping list and had no plans on buying a blusher from Etude.

However, just as I was about to pay for my purchases, I glanced at one of their posters of Wendy (from Red Velvet) and thought that her blush looked super good.

I saw that the blush was Lovely Cookie Blusher RD301 Grapefruit Pudding, and that, my dear readers, was the story of how I met this blusher.

Ingredient List

TALC, MICA, RED 30 LAKE (CI 73360), HYDROGENATED POLY(C6-14 OLEFIN), DIISOSTEARYL MALATE, SILICA, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), POLYETHYLENE, YELLOW 5 LAKE (CI 19140), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491), PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, HYDROGEN DIMETHICONE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, HDI/TRIMETHYLOL HEXYLLACTONE CROSSPOLYMER, NEOPENTYL GLYCOL DIETHYLHEXANOATE, POLYGLYCERYL-2 TRIISOSTEARATE, TRIETHYLHEXANOIN, POLYHYDROXYSTEARIC ACID.

So…many…foreign…terms…

I Googled some of these and one of them shocked me.

TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE: Health Concerns of the Ingredient: Overall Hazard. Cancer. Developmental & reproductive toxicity. Allergies & immunotoxicity.

Someone should really simplify or explain all these terms for consumers on the packaging or website. How is the layman supposed to understand what this really means for their skin? 🙁

Packaging

I don’t really know why it’s called a Cookie Blusher because the packaging doesn’t really look like a cooke to me, but I appreciate how convenient it is to carry around and use it. A lot of blushers don’t come with puffs or any form of applicator, which is really inconvenient.

The lid shuts tightly as well, so no worries about your blusher being possibly ruined when you drop it, have it knocked around etc.

Colour

To be honest, I would probably never have bought a colour as dark and intense as this for my blushers. I usually stick to lighter, pinker shades because it looks more natural, but I wanted to try something different with this.

It looks more like coral than red, but it’s a beautiful colour that really suits skin with warm undertones.

Colour payoff & intensity

The intensity is pretty average, but be careful not to dab too much at one go with the puff unless you’re going for a very strong blusher look. This is how the blusher looks like when I dabbed more than usual:

It’s not that bad, but just saying that it might not be something you’re going for, so be careful!

Staying power

Although this blusher is rather powdery (top ingredient is talc), it stays on super well. I do not set it with mineral powder or setting spray and yet still can stay out the whole day without any need for touch-ups at all. It’s great!

Trust me, no one likes doing touch-ups every few hours.

Final Verdict

After I’ve tried this blusher, I really want to get the other shades as well. I’m impressed by the formula, and I do think it’s considered pretty affordable for this kind of quality.

Now who says impulse buys are always bad?
