eSpoir Couture Lip Fluid Velvet review moonlit swatch

eSpoir was one of those K-beauty brands I made sure to check out when I was in Korea because it doesn’t officialy retail in Singapore.

The brand used to be fronted by Joy from Red Velvet, and you realise how apt it is because many of the products come in flattering MLBB nudes and a staggering number of red shades.

After swatching (too many) lip products to find a nice formula, I settled on the eSpoir Couture Lip Fluid Velvet. As the name suggests, it is a velvety liquid lipstick.

Product Description

As a general note, while there is not much concern in terms of harmful ingredients (in most cases), you should look out for moisturising ingredients in your lipsticks, especially if you are using a matte lippie.

Packaging

From what I understand, the one I have is the old packaging. It still looks very minimalistic and chic though! Most importantly, a lid that clicks to let you know that it’s properly secured.

I also like that you can see the product’s true shade from the transparent bottom corner. Swatches and bottle colours are frequently inaccurate indicators of colour. And if you can’t swatch it for some reason, it’s good to be able to see the actual colour directly.

Colour

I bought this in star shade Moonlit, which is described as a Dry Rose shade. It’s a beautiful MLBB colour that lean towards pink. Perfect for those who don’t want something too ‘plain’, but needs something more appropriate than say, brick reds, for daily use.

I find that Moonlit is a very versatile colour that goes very well with a lot of makeup styles, such as daily casual makeup, bright spring looks, and warm autumn looks. The pretty and subtle shade gives your lips a nice swash of colour that doesn’t steal attention away from your strong eyeshadow game, but can also become a focus point of your makeup if you’re too lazy to do eyeshadow.

I’ve no complaints about the colour intensity, which is easy to control. One swipe for a sheer colour, and another layer if you want a supple look.

Staying power

I think it fares pretty ok in this aspect. Nothing much to be amazed at, just enough colour left after a normal meal so that you can get away with nor touching up if you want.

That being said, I do feel that its velvet-matte texture can leave my lips feeling a little dry after a while, particularly if I decide to touch up. I usually get around this by putting lip balm, and I’ll highly recommend doing so every time you apply this lipstick or you’ll start seeing pronounced creases in your lips.

Final Verdict

I feel that this lipstick from eSpoir falls somewhere between the CLIO Mad Matte Tint and 3CE Velvet Lip Tint. It’s more velvety and long-lasting than the former, but much more comfortable and less creasy than the latter.

I think at its price point, this is a fairly decent lipstick. What really won me over is the Moonlit shade, which I can say is close to my ideal MLBB colour.

Just a quick tip: always remember to apply lip balm with this for maximum comfort and minimum creasing!
