Having reviewed Colourpop’s blotted lip and satin lip, it’s about time I got around to reviewing another of their star lip products – the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip.
Product Description
This thin, lightweight formula smoothly glides on the lips leaving SUPER intense pigment with a bold, ultra-matte look. It is very long-wearing and 100% kiss-proof AKA no transferring!
Official Retail Price: USD 6.50

Ingredient List
ISODODECANE, DIISOPROPYL DIMER DILINOLEATE, ALUMINA, NYLON-12, SILICA, TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE, POLYPROPYLSILSESQUIOXANE, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, PROPYLENE CARBONATE, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, IRON OXIDES (CI 77492, CI 77499), RED 7 LAKE (CI 15850), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891).
There aren’t many ingredients in this list, and a quick check on most of them seem to be fine. Propylene Carbonate, however, has been classified as a human irritant for use around eyes, on skin, etc., so do take note of that.

Packaging: Identical to the other Colourpop lipsticks. I find this a little problematic because the shades I buy all look pretty similar, and sometimes I can mix them all up. I have to look very carefully at the tube to see if I’m using the blotted, matte, or satin. It’s not a huge problem, just that it would have been great if Colourpop made some slight differences to the packaging for clearer distinction.
Colour: I was kind of prepared that the colour would turn out darker than the nudes and pinks I was used to buying when I saw the marketing photos, but the colour didn’t seem to fit me as well as I had expected. I think it’s a little too much of a dark brown for me, and it made my overall complexion look quite bad. It’s a bit sad because I really quite like this ‘dusty brown pink’ (as Colourpop puts it) :/
The colour payoff is, I think, the best among blotted, satin, and matte. It’s not very surprising, considering that it’s a matte lipstick, but still a noteworthy point.
Staying power: Best staying power I’ve had from a matte lipstick. Ever. I never had to worry about transfer, or having the colour disappear after a meal. In fact, I had the most amount of colour pigments left on my lips at the end of the day when I used this lipstick, and I absolutely loved the convenience of not having to touch up! My lips also didn’t feel uncomfortable at all with this formula – no drying out, no ugly cracking of lips, none of the horrors that usually accompanies matte lipsticks.
Final Verdict
Once again, Colourpop has not disappointed with its products. This is my favourite matte formula for liquid lipsticks thus far – my only regret is that the colour didn’t suit me quite as much as I wanted. Thankfully that’s not too big of a problem – I could always buy other shades in future…
